From Molecular Profiling to Spatial Insights: Advancing Research with Proteomics and Spatial Transcriptomics
Proteomics and spatial transcriptomics provide complementary insights into molecular function and tissue organization. In the first part of this webinar, Anthony Tong, a product manager at Novogene will introduce the company’s proteomics solutions,, analytical workflows, and applications in precision medicine, elucidation of disease mechanism, therapeutic target discovery, and host-pathogen interactions.
In the second part, Dr. Xingyuan Jiang will present her recent studies of rare genetic skin disorders and illustrate how spatial transcriptomics and protein-level analyses can provide complementary insights into disease biology. Using high-resolution spatial transcriptomics, her studies investigated how pathogenic variants in SLURP1 and EMP2 disrupt epidermal differentiation and signaling. Spatial analyses revealed increased NF-κB signaling and innate immune activity associated with dominant SLURP1 variants, as well as abnormal suprabasal activation of receptor tyrosine kinase pathways, including EGFR signaling, in EMP2-associated disease. These spatial findings were further supported by protein-level and functional analyses, helping connect altered gene-expression programs with molecular mechanisms and disease phenotypes. Dr. Jiang will share practical insights into experimental design, tissue profiling, spatial data interpretation, protein-level validation, and the integration of complementary molecular evidence.
