Novogene Upgrades Its NGS Intelligent Delivery Platform with Falcon IV, Achieving a Major Breakthrough in Throughput

Novogene Unveils Falcon IV: Next‑Generation Flexible Intelligent Delivery System

Leveraging its extensive expertise and continuous innovation in intelligent automation, Novogene has launched Falcon IV, its next‑generation flexible intelligent delivery system for global customers, following the successful development of Falcon, Falcon II, and Falcon III.

In June 2026, Falcon IV officially began operations at Novogene’s laboratories in Tianjin, China, and the United States. With a 200% increase in throughput compared with Falcon III, Falcon IV further strengthens Novogene’s delivery capabilities while enhancing the efficiency and quality of localized services, providing customers with a more efficient and reliable service experience.

Continuous Innovation, Expanding Intelligent Applications

The Falcon series is Novogene’s flexible, intelligent delivery platform designed for the global high‑throughput sequencing (NGS) market. The platform integrates multiple products and parallel workflows across the entire process, including sample extraction, testing, library preparation, library QC, and library pooling.

The first‑generation Falcon platform was launched in 2020, enabling five major product types to be processed in parallel on a shared production line and reducing production turnaround time by 60%. Since then, Novogene has continued to enhance the platform. Falcon II focused on flexible deployment, featuring a modular design and a compact footprint of just 10 m² to accommodate diverse application scenarios. Falcon III further enhanced operational flexibility with a footprint of only 5 m², supporting dual‑line parallel processing and on‑demand sample insertion, while increasing throughput by more than 25%.

With the launch of Falcon IV, the platform takes another major step forward. Building on the flexibility and intelligent capabilities of previous generations, Falcon IV delivers a significant increase in throughput—200% higher than Falcon III—marking a new chapter in intelligent delivery.

Multidimensional Upgrades Set a New Standard for Intelligent Delivery

Fully Automated Workflow

Falcon IV integrates 15 precision instruments and can autonomously perform the entire workflow, including pre‑library preparation sampling for single‑plate RNA library preparation, library preparation, library quantification, library normalization, post‑normalization quantification, and transfer of diluted solutions to Echo plates.

Precise process control and seamless integration enable stable, uninterrupted operation around the clock. By replacing traditional manual operations with automated workflows, Falcon IV effectively reduces human error and the risk of sample cross‑contamination at the source, providing a reliable quality foundation for downstream data analysis and research.

High‑Efficiency Production

Falcon IV delivers a significant increase in processing capacity, handling 738 samples in 16 hours and up to 1,440 samples in 24 hours under continuous operation—representing a 200% increase in throughput compared with Falcon III.

The system supports on‑demand startup, sample insertion at any time, rapid processing, and continuous operation. Production capacity can be flexibly allocated according to actual demand, accommodating different workflows and capacity configurations while enabling flexible scheduling to meet diverse delivery requirements.

Consistent and Reliable Quality

Machine‑based decision‑making and execution throughout the workflow effectively reduce the uncertainty and judgment errors associated with manual operations. Each step is traceable, while the risk of contamination is further minimized. Falcon IV achieves a 99.45% library preparation pass rate, supporting consistent and reliable high‑quality delivery.

Independent and Controllable Technology

From business process analysis and software development to hardware integration and installation, Falcon IV is developed and implemented by Novogene’s in‑house intelligent production team. The core central control software is independently developed by Novogene, and the company owns the complete intellectual property rights, ensuring a secure and controllable technology roadmap while laying a solid foundation for future upgrades and expansion.

Today, the Falcon series has been successfully deployed at Novogene’s U.S. laboratory, providing local research institutions and customers with more efficient, stable, and convenient localized services. This deployment helps shorten delivery timelines and improve response times.

Looking ahead, Novogene will continue to leverage its expertise and technological innovation to enhance intelligent delivery capabilities, provide customers with efficient and reliable services, and explore broader applications of the Falcon platform across diverse business scenarios. Through continued innovation, Novogene aims to support the life science industry in advancing toward greater digitalization and automation.
